Censor censorship!

Let me point this out for the umpteenth time: how media should be, no exceptions.

I am sure you comic book fans can not forget the glowing blue penis that belonged to a Dr. Manhattan on the critically-acclaimed film ‘Watchmen’, can you? This is what brought me back to my philosophy.

Censorship, quite frankly, demotes us as sentient beings and desensitizes us to actuality. Yes, I could have simply said ‘censorship is bullshit’, but I am not the common person bearing the mentality of a 2-year-old. I will now justify this.

Kids that play video games like Halo or Resident evil most likely do not come to understand the intrinsic value of life and what taking lives mean. For instance, in real war, do you not bleed when you are shot? And how many bullets to the head can you REALLY take before you are snuffed? Thirteen? That is how many it takes in Halo 3 (and believe me, it pisses me off way to much). However, it is a video game, and the whole reason is explained in the universe.

Now, Resident Evil and Halo do not bear many marks of censorship in their works; they have a very real graphical representation of violence, and they should. What I want to throw to the table, however, is that distortion of original media in order to ‘fit’ into a rating or be released on the silver screen is wrong. ‘Watchmen’, however, refused to allow this, and Dr. Manhattan represents the refusal to conform to the standards of this agency called censorship.

Basically, if your character is known in one media as being completely nude and is male, then how should you change that for release in the theatre?

You SHOULDN’T change it!

Censorship twists facts and negatively shields individuals from raw, hard truth. The originality of characters and such must be preserved. Believe me, if any of you people TRULY know me, you must already know my stance on this and my work. My walls (that will be moved shortly) make up my ‘museum’, a museum that will never bear any witness to this agency called censorship. Sara, Shane, few relatives…they are quite familiar with my frankness. Sara could tell you numerous stories about us in class together.

H’m. No idea if I got off track or not (did feel like I branched off into something else, though). Anywho, one day I will have the honor of presenting my refined and brilliant work on numerous media platforms. Don’t get me wrong, though - ‘Watchmen’ and myself, we are quite different from Guys Gone Wild or Playgirl. I simply do not believe in ‘watering-done’ actuality; sex, violence, philosophy should be there, 100%, like kickyouinthefaceGREEN. Yeah.

Thanks for listening,
